A Thrilling Frisson of Many Memes

We often like to think of memes as a way to alleviate boredom, or at least, provide us with a level of boredom that is preferable to doing anything actually useful to our day-to-day lives. However, they have another important use, too: they provide us with a way to express our frustrations. This isn’t just because there are plenty of memes out there that purely exist to complain about stuff. It’s also due to the fact that we don’t have very many healthy ways to divert our anger when things don’t seem to be going right. Whether we’ve had a dumb argument in our relationship, we’re feeling the stress of mounting bills, or we’ve been cooped up in our tiny apartment for four days straight, longing for the day we get to go outside again, memes are there to allow us to blow off steam. Deep breath, we can do this.
