Prospective homeowners lament obstinate boomers who block younger relatives from inheriting property: ‘It’s hard not to feel like the Baby Boomer generation let their children & grandchildren down’

It may be old news, but it never gets any less painful to realize that many of us under the age of 50 are far less likely to ever own a home than our older relatives were. If you don’t have a high-paying job or the Bank of Mom and Dad on your side, the next best thing you can hope for is some kind of inheritance that will either help with a down payment or give you a property to live in outright.

This is exactly what happened to one Twitter user’s acquaintance when his grandfather passed and left him his home in the will. Unfortunately, he had a pair of baby boomer uncles—both landlords and lawyers—who wanted to take him to court so they could rent the place out. Other people soon offered up similar horror stories, as well as sympathizing with the tricky situation. No matter what anyone else might say, this is one thing where a lot of younger people aren’t given the easy way out.
