It’s a sad reality that many parents don’t like hanging out with their kids. This is a common trope of fictional rich parents in movies and TV (see Uptown Girls, Eloise at the Plaza, and Schitts Creek as examples), but it sadly appears in real life as well. I would never want to shame dual-income families, but if both parents are working until late at night and barely see their children because they think building a wealth empire is more important, they might need to sort out their priorities. There’s a big difference between rarely seeing your children out of genuine financial need and hardship and not seeing them because you want to buy a summer home in the Hamptons.
