Tumblr Trolls Twitter With Their Own Blue Checkmarks

Now that Twitter is officially terminal, users have responded the only way they know how: with manic posting and dumb humor (and absolutely no unspecified parodies of Elon Musk). If its delicate ecosystem has to collapse, people are determined to enjoy the ride. This isn’t limited to the site’s users, either. Unsurprisingly, those who stand to benefit from it falling apart are having the time of their lives too. Tumblr has been touted as the place many will migrate when it’s finished, and they’re having fun with their re-found status as a hot social media platform. Their latest order of business has been to sell their own verification checkmarks, mocking the already defunct paid verification system of Twitter Blue. Introducing the feature with the tagline «you can never be too important on the internet», many have jumped on the opportunity to have their own slice of officialness. Best of all, nobody has to stop at just two. Even Twitter was amused by this one.
