Twitter Users Share Their All-Time Favorite Deleted Tweets

It’s common to regret things we say from time to time, but making a mistake in a conversation or sending an embarrassing message in a group chat is nothing compared to the potential horror of posting something on the internet that you deeply regret later. Justine Sacco’s infamous tweet is a reminder that deleting a cringeworthy post may not be enough, as it could already be too late.

It’s important to remember that anything you say or post on social media, including revealing photos or comments, can be screenshotted and used against you in the court of the internet. However, witnessing others’ cringey and unsuccessfully deleted posts can be entertaining, and Twitter user @usingcigarettes has provided ample proof of this. They asked their followers (and the general Twitter population) to share their favorite deleted tweets in a wildly chaotic thread. The results range from violent to cringey, with some of them being downright offensive. Mostly, though, they’re just amusing examples of post-happy people exhibiting a woeful lack of filter.
