I recently heard an idea that confirmed my faith in gaming. Somebody I know was asked out on a first date for «DUI Mario Kart.» The idea for the date was simple, genius, and probably self-explanatory: get drunk and play Mario Kart. The simplest of things can become exciting when we give them a clever name. Then, the specter of the first date (which is usually a job interview with cocktails), becomes the possibility of something fun, fresh, and new. 

This is what gaming is good for, bringing people together to do something fun. And what’s more fun than getting a little tipsy and driving Daisy straight off the road? That’s the kind of debauchery I can wholeheartedly endorse. The perfect addition to that date, though, would be briefly pausing to scroll through these gaming memes together. They’ll make you laugh, give you something to talk about, and help you suss out whether or not your date is a true gamer.
