A Basket Full of Locally Sourced Memes

It’s beginning to be farmer’s market season, and the summer squash is upon us. There’s nothing quite like trotting around your local park, taking a gander at the fresh prod (it’s what the cool kids are calling produce), and chatting to a local farmer about how the tomatillos are doing this season. It makes you feel connected to your local ecosystem, economy, and food supply chain. We’re usually so disconnected from how our food is grown, so the chance to look someone in the eye who harvested your rutabaga is invaluable.

Farmers markets are also a great chance to walk around with a baguette in your tote bag feeling like the queen of the world. Or smelling 10 different varieties of goat milk’s soap before picking the lavender one. Or sampling local jam made from kumquats and nutmeg (who knew?) So think of these memes as your farmer’s market, and get inspired by the offerings.
