If we’re being completely honest, letting someone make a toast during a wedding, after everyone had a few drinks and is not in their best state of mind, is a terrible idea. Even if they rehearsed that speech countless times, there is always room for disaster when drinks are involved. Come to think of it, even without the drinking, weddings are quite a dramatic event, and adding speeches to them can only entice some of that drama even more, so why are those wedding toasts still a thing in modern weddings?

Perhaps the reason is for people to have hysterical stories to share about the wedding toasts they had the pleasure of hearing, much like what everyone shared in this Reddit thread.
