Is there a polite way to tell people off? I’m an introverted soul but also crippled by my non-confrontational tendencies. While I crave the strength to tell someone to ‘go kick rocks’ and let me collect my mail in peace, I’m equally crippled by my people-pleasing desire to avoid rocking the boat. I certainly don’t want to be caught in a small-talk situation with my whole neighborhood, but I also don’t want to come off as mean. 

It’s a pickle, and a pickle I’d expect a lot of introverts to find themselves in. 

Respectfully, we introverted people don’t want to chitter-chatter with strangers. We have one (maybe two) friends that we socialize with on an irregular basis and for us, that’s perfect. Introverts don’t need to drown themselves in futile conversations, we’re stronger than that. So while extroverts are yelling in the ear of the acquaintance next to them at a loud house party, introverts are cool, calm, and collected in the comfort of their own home, enjoying entertainment that suits their fancies without going partially deaf.
