We live in a world that often resembles Science Fiction. Technology moves so fast that it’s sometimes hard to keep up with, and think about what technology was available when you were born versus now. It’s almost impossible to wrap your mind around. It’s like we grew up in the Stone Age and now live in the future part of 2001: A Space Odyssey. How does one human tolerate that much change in one lifetime? Something that helps his science fiction itself. It shows us the inner workings, the pitfalls, and the potential joys of technology before it’s available to us. 

We had a long time to think about robots before they actually started becoming a reality. We have a lot of storytelling and media around aliens, so that if they ever visit Earth, we have at least somewhat of a roadmap. We were imagining flying cars long before we had self-driving cars. You don’t have to like all of it, but it does exist, and science fiction helps us understand it.
