Sometimes you have to be careful with the truth. We hear so often about how important it is to be honest and truthful, but that’s only part of the story. By the time you’re an adult, you’ve probably found out that it’s sometimes better to shield the truth from some people in certain moments. That doesn’t mean you have to lie to them, but you don’t have to say everything that’s on the top of your mind about them. You probably wouldn’t want somebody to do that to you. The other old saying goes «if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all,» and that’s just as important as telling the truth.
This is especially true in a work setting. Work settings famously invite you to swallow all kinds of discontent at every turn. You wouldn’t want to go around saying exactly what you think of everyone as soon as it floats across your mind, or else they might not want to work with you. But sometimes you can’t help it. Sometimes you get so fed up that the idea of dropping a truth bomb is incredibly tantalizing.
