Creativity is in short order these days. In the age of artificial intelligence, it feels like everyone is taking the shortcut to artistry. We’re asking computers to do stuff that we should use the infinite capacity of our imaginations to do. It’s not only good for ourselves and our brains, it’s good for the world. It’s good to have art populating every corner. Art is made by humans with a human touch. That’s irreplaceable.
DnD is a great outlet for human creativity. It requires everyone to use their imaginations way more than they do in their day-to-day life. DMs have to literally create worlds out of their minds and populate them with characters conflicts and interesting places. Players have to transform themselves into mystical beings and channel their powers and abilities. Someone has to come up with what to order for dinner. It’s a great exercise of creative energy. I’d like to see a computer try to replicate that.
