I don’t know who needs to hear this in 2022, but women and men are the same species, and thus are equally capable of becoming experts in any given field. Apparently, some customers out there are still either terrified of speaking to women, or assume that all men are superior uber-geniuses whose wisdom knows no bounds. In a recent r/MaliciousCompliance post, u/WoolliesMudcake recounts the time his female colleague (who happened to be one of the most experienced employees at their automotive shop) was continuously rejected by a male customer who just wanted help from «one of the boys.» Luckily, the boys maliciously complied.
