It’s peak Midwestern time. We’ve blown off our (unnecessary) fingers with fireworks, we’re nursing a hangover that will come and go all summer, and we’re saying, «It’s not the heat that gets you, it’s the humidity.» It’s the best of times, it’s the worst of times. We’re being everything that makes us us, falling into every stereotype along the way. But ya know what? I find that most Midwestern stereotypes are not only true, they’re flattering. 

Oh, you think we’re nice? Heck yeah, we’ll take it. You think we love cheese and beer? You would be absolutely right about that, yes, we have incredible taste. You think all we talk about is the weather? Well, when you have weather like ours, you get it. Shame on us for being good at small talk. We will take your stereotypes and we will take them in stride, thank you very much.
