If you’ve spent any time on the internet over the past week, you’ve probably heard a thing or two about Netflix’s new mini series about serial killer Jeffrey Dahmner. Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which stars Evan Peters as the notorious murderer, has been met with a lot of backlash from critics and families of victims alike. While it’s no secret that the public is fascinated by psychopathic, sociopathic killers, it seems people are starting to think a bit more about the implications of this fascination and the media that is created to profit off of it. That said, there are some people who seem wholly unbothered by this ethical/moral dilemma: the memers of the internet. In the meme world, humor – even when it’s low effort – trumps most things.
