The ‘Da Vinki Twins’ Are the Only Good Influencers On the Internet

When two cartoonish-looking blonde twins on TikTok answered the question «Who painted the Mona Lisa?» with «Da Vinki?» The internet was quick to embrace them as a punchline with their absurd mispronunciation of the famous Italian master, Leonardo da Vinci. «Da Vinki» became the earworm meme of the moment. It could be heard across the internet, but nobody could have guessed the pair of Hungarian-Canadian professional wrestlers would remain one of the internet’s most wholesome duos. They’re one of the only examples of «good» influencers, and they deserve more credit.

One of the reasons they’ve stuck around is that they leaned into the joke that made them famous, reiterating the joke and captioning almost all their videos with some variation of Da Vinki (Da Likey, Da Jokey, Da Sussy). Somehow, instead of the humiliation of watching a one-hit-wonder try to continually cash in on their success, a brand identity was born. Da Vinki was so simple and dumb in the first place that it didn’t lose its shine over time. It only became dumber and therefore funnier.
