The first couple of episodes of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds are out, and the people are mixed about them, to say the least! One of the biggest critiques of the show is that it’s not really going anywhere, let alone boldly going where no man has gone before. Streaming shows are generally considered to be less episodic and more serialized than cable shows, and that’s because they fit a lot of development and story into a shorter amount of time. With Strange New World being episodic in form and having a streaming schedule, there isn’t enough time to properly develop the characters. If there are 22 episodes in a single season, there’s no harm in having some filler episodes that don’t particularly add much to characters. But if there’s only 10 or 11, then every episode must have more bang for its buck, and Strange New Worlds doesn’t seem to have that.
