Adult friendships are funny little ecosystems. They’re supposed to be built on years of shared experiences and mutual respect, yet they can collapse faster than a badly-pitched tent, often for reasons no one can articulate.
In this stage of life, we tend to assume our relationships are more mature, but sometimes they’re as stable as a children’s pillow fort, prone to falling apart under the slightest pressure of misunderstanding. And when these friendships perish, they usually do so with as much maturity as a playground fight: mumbled accusations, grumpy silences, and a refusal to just have an adult conversation.
There’s just something about the collision between generosity and entitlement that brings out truly baaaafff-fuuu-ling behavior.
