Much like the average pop song, many memes have a relatively predictable formula to them. Chances are, most of the ones that we come across are going to have some kind of setup, punchline, and vaguely fitting yet random image to go along with them. It is this reliability that, for a lot of people, is part of the appeal; they know that a neat little package of entertainment is coming their way, surprising in its content but not in its form. 

Even if you enjoy being anti-establishment, there is nothing wrong with enjoying the hits and the tried-and-true formulas from time to time. After all, they have produced many classics, and that is a fact that is difficult to argue with. Plus, it is pleasing to see things work the way that they are supposed to, whether that is applied to music or to the more ephemeral art of internet humor.
