Family isn’t always easy to deal with. And I’ll take «Understatements of the Century» for 200, Alex. Family is everything. They teach us how to exist in the world and show us who we are. But sometimes we’re born into difficult situations. You didn’t do anything to «deserve» it, but here you are, trying to make the best out of it. 

But no matter how hard you work on yourself, you can’t control the actions of others, no matter how much you might wish you could. You could be sailing along, living your best life, and suddenly have a family emergency thrust upon you that you certainly didn’t ask for. This is one of the inevitabilities of life. What you can control, though, is how you respond to it. You have ultimate autonomy over the way that you react to a situation, even when it’s a difficult one.
