We can customize our social media feeds until it seems like they are listening to our conversations and explore every niche topic that catches our interest, but even then, it is impossible to reach a point where everything the internet shows us is exactly what we want to see. There will always be the occasional image, video, or conversation that we find boring, or could end up upsetting us. 

When all we really want to find is a pleasant distraction, it is mighty annoying to be served up things that seem to be irrelevant. However, that isn’t the only way to look at it. The less enjoyable moments make us appreciate the content we do love even more, and when we have to put in a little effort to find something worthwhile, it can almost feel like we’ve accomplished something. Keeping a positive outlook helps, especially since these platforms are designed with our entertainment in mind.
