It’s a great big paradox, but the only thing we can truly be sure of is change. Perhaps this is why we’re all so addicted to memes. Their main focus is mutating and multiplying in interesting different directions, while still staying in a package that is recognizable enough to be soothing. They are the masters of both change and continuity at the same time. Pretty trippy. 

Of course, that’s not the only reason that they’re so popular. For most people who don’t like to think to long and hard about whatever is presented to them on their screens, it’s just another form of instantaneous entertainment. There’s nothing wrong with just seeing memes like that, so long as you remain loyal to the cause of viewing them. I don’t think they’re going to die out completely any time soon, but we’ve got to keep on enjoying them to help that stay a reality.
