There is a new Twitter main character who is making a splash with her wild interviews. Yeonmi Park is an activist and a North Korean defector who fled to China in 2007 before settling in South Korea and later the United States. She’s built a career off of telling stories about her life in North Korea and the horrible things she encountered while under that regime.
Park has become a bit of a meme as of late after various podcast appearances of hers have gone viral. The reason? Her recollection of her life in North Korea is so exaggerated it’s completely unbelievable. I’m not saying that she didn’t have a traumatic time living there, but the amount of inconsistencies in all of her stories raises my suspicions about how forthright she’s being. In response to these unbelievable viral stories, Twitter users have made no shortage of tweets parodying the lies and exaggerations.
