I’ve heard my fair share of creative wedding stories, but I’m pretty sure this one takes the cake, that is, if the guests are willing to pay for said cake because it looks like Gen Z invents a new level of matrimony multitasking by asking friends, family, and even that barista from last summer for a couple of bucks toward the dream wedding and tropical getaway. Bouquets start costing bridesmaid donations, and the list of soft asks stretches longer than the vows.
Some wedding trends are easy to laugh off, but this one might set a new record for creative nerve. Imagine firing up social media just to find a steady stream of QR codes and cash app links from a couple crowdfunding not just their wedding, but the honeymoon, bouquets, and every slice of cake. Even people who aren’t invited end up on the donation list, while bridesmaids get tapped to sponsor the flowers. All that, and the celebration hasn’t even started yet.
