22-year-old woman steals money from her already generous grandparents, accuses her 21-year-old sister of ruining her life when she exposes her: ‘She’s been texting me, calling me a traitor’

Stealing is a part of culture that has been normalized to some degree. How many Gen Zers have you met who regularly steal from Walmart or similar large corporations because a bottle of travel hairspray won’t affect their bottom line? I’m not sure if stealing nail polish from Dollar General is a slippery slope to credit card fraud, identity theft, or home invasion, but I would venture to guess that it probably isn’t, at least not yet.

Some people are willing to steal in a much more shameless way. Stealing directly from your family is a much bigger betrayal than stealing from a business, no matter how big. Theft is illegal either way, but family members are less likely to prosecute for inter-familial thievery than companies. The damage of finding out someone is stealing money from an elderly family member is something the thief can never fully come back from.
