Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m a Swiftie. I wasn’t for a long time, and then she won me over with folklore and evermore. I can’t help it that I enjoy excellent lyricism and songwriting. Sorry! And I feel the need to say «sorry» about it because of the reputation (no pun intended) of her most ardent fans. She commands her fandom in a way that is terrifying to the masses. They are one of the most powerful armies in the world, and I’m being totally serious. They scan the whole internet for any passing mention of their queen, and they will tear naysayers to shreds. Not all of her fans are like this, but a lot of them are, and that can be a scary thing to face.
With the release of her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, it came with a tsunami of reactions online. Some negative, some positive, all of them very hard to ignore, at least if you have my media diet. So the thought that someone might miss out on this discourse is a little surprising to me.
