UPDATE: Entitled SIL tells woman she doesn’t ‘deserve’ to claim part-ownership over her and her husband’s new home due to her lower earnings, parents-in-law reveal their daughter wanted to cash in on her brother’s life insurance policy

If you haven’t read the first part of the story, you can read that here.

Being told that you are lesser in your relationship because of finances is never a nice thing to hear—it’s like the only thing people actually respect anymore is money. When everything crashes and burns, you’re only left with your character. If folks understood that, they’d probably be a bit nicer to those around them—but that’s just a hunch that I have.

If you’ve heard the first part of this story, you’d know that a woman’s sister-in-law suggested that the woman doesn’t «deserve» to claim ownership over the home she and her husband purchased together. Her SIL said this because her brother made a larger financial contribution when buying the home, but a partnership usually means part-ownership, too. Well, it’s come to light that this SIL wasn’t playing nice because she thought she’d be part owner of the home along with being her brother’s life insurance beneficiary, despite him having a wife now.
