If you’ve spent any time looking at memes over the last decade, chances are you’ve come across a starter pack meme. According to the experts at Know Your Meme, starter pack memes are «a series of multi-panel photo sets meant to illustrate the archetype of a celebrity, company or subculture through a recommended selection of fashion articles, multimedia and other consumer products.» Basically, they’re memes that riff on a person, place, thing, or behavior, and they often do it in a pretty savage way.
While it’s true that wholesome (or even informative) starter packs are a thing, we really prefer the ones that take jabs on stuff we don’t like. You know, because we’re humans with senses of humor. Though starter packs (also known by some as starter kit memes) are less popular than they used to be, there are still plenty of people uploading their creations to the r/starterpacks subreddit. We’re glad because starter packs tend to provide some pretty honest, pretty funny, and pretty brutal social commentary. Which is what memes are for, right?
