Reading Memes For Fervent Bookworms

I was never one of those kids who was obsessed with reading. I was a fan of child pulp fiction books (Magic Tree House, Junie B. Jones, The Babysitters Club, etc.), but I never identified as a bookworm. I was known to fabricate entries on my reading log, and I was not ashamed of it.

My reading-neutral stance was mostly because I never found books I really fell in love with, but it was also related to my disdain for kids who bragged about reading at a college level. Even in my 4th-grade mind, I knew there was no way these kids could digest collegiate-level articles just because they read Harry Potter really fast. In college, I fell in love with reading because being a «reader» wasn’t simply about quickly consuming as many books as possible but about reading critically and analytically. Now, I try to read as much as possible and sympathize much more with the gifted 10-year-olds who were bookworms from day 1.
