When family visits your new living space for the first time, tensions are high.
Mom is stressing out about how few cleaning products you have under your sink, and Dad wants to know why your freezer is stuffed with frozen taquitos instead of prime cuts of a NY strip. Every parent has some worry when their little ones leave the nest once and for all, but that doesn’t give them the right to snoop through your private things whenever they please.
If you’ve ever had family, extended or immediate, visit your house or apartment, you know that some things need to be left to their imaginations. The mother in the story below decides to take it upon herself to look through her 27-year-old son’s bedroom, and even rummage through his drawers where he keeps his private journal and medical paperwork. Unfortunately, this prompts the son to put a lock on his bedroom door whenever his family visits. Mom set a poor precedent, and now everyone is reaping what she had sown.
