The Best Gaming Memes of the Week (September 20, 2023)

Ah sh–, here we go again. It’s hump day and you know what that means—we’re back with the best gaming memes of the week. But first, story time…

The first time I ever played the Portal games, I was convinced they were the best games of all time. I was so excited about it that I made my roommate promise that we’d try out Portal 2’s co-op mode as soon as we both got home from work. It was exactly the sort of bonding time we needed to relieve unspoken tensions around domestic responsibilities (he never washed the dishes, and I tended to get all passive aggressive about it). I couldn’t have been more wrong. The first course was fine and we got the hang of the co-op mechanics easily enough. But then things started to go downhill as soon as the puzzles became a little more challenging. By the third course, my roommate and I were talking over each other and disagreeing about how to solve every little problem. By course 4, we were yelling personal insults at the top of our lungs—»you can’t even navigate your way around a mop, why did I think you could play this game?»—things like that. By the end of the game, our neighbors were pounding on the door and threatening to call the police if we didn’t shut up.

Let this be a lesson to every gamer out there—before you jump into a cooperative puzzle game with your roommate, think long and hard about it. It’s probably safer to share funny gaming memes with them instead.
