Onions—folks either love ‘em or hate ‘em. The tears that stream down your face as you chop the amazing alliums are all worth it for the flavor these vegetables add to any home-cooked dish. Some onion enthusiasts say it’s «childish» for those who dislike onions to still dislike onions after battling a fear of alliums as children. I, unfortunately, am one of the onion-phobes. As you can see, though, I still appreciate them. Onion powder and Funyuns are my jam… I can’t explain it, either.
The downside? They make you bawl. Like, full-on tears-streaming-down-your-face bawling. I heard that there’s a method of cutting an onion that prevents the release of specific enzymes (the ones that make us start sweating from the eyes). If that works, let me know. Or don’t, I don’t like onions.
Now that I’ve come clean and exposed my biases, it’s time for you readers to go back to the onion-loving side of the internet. You can start by scrolling below!
