Once again, we’ve reached that time in a social media’s lifespan where some of its users start to look for an alternative.

Many American TikTokers have waved goodbye to the app in recent days in protest of the US entity that has taken ownership of the platform. Looking to circumvent the proposed federal ban, many take issue with the ethics of some of the biggest investors, which include the controversial technology company Oracle. Many users claimed that they already felt like posts on certain topics were being censored and shadowbanned.

Seeking to get their short-form video fix elsewhere, they have found a friendly alternative in the form of UpScrolled. The image and video platform promises «authentic connection» with a minimum of algorithmic meddling and maximum safety for personal data. It’s currently the #1 download on the US App Store, while TikTok uninstalls are up 150%.
