I believe it was Arthur that said having fun isn’t hard when you’ve got a library card. It’s not just a catchy slogan, it’s also true. There’s no other place like it that offers access to a world of different media for free (unless you’re really good at pirating everything). 

For generations, public libraries have been dispensaries of knowledge, entertainment, and even just a warm space to sit for a couple of hours. Many kids have developed a lifelong love of reading thanks to their local library, and it’s a tradition that keeps on going. 

Naysayers may claim that the internet means we’ve bypassed the need for this humble invention, but there are plenty of people out there who would prove them wrong. They are one of vanishingly few public spaces where everyone is welcome, and we don’t have to spend money. It’s only fair that there a few memes in celebration of them.
