Company Causes Outcry Asking Employees To Donate PTO For Sick Co-Worker

The human body is a fragile, unpredictable thing. We spent all that time hundreds of thousands of years ago developing our brains that we forgot to let our bodies catch up with them, and now we’re susceptible to such a wide range of ailments that we accidentally created hypochondria.

However, you wouldn’t think this was the case if you looked at the average sick leave policy for a country like the U.S.. Many workplaces here are notoriously unforgiving in the way they treat their employees falling ill, which leaves a lot of people in a conundrum when their health takes a turn for the worse.

The depressing reality of this kind of work culture has recently been illustrated by a sign from an anonymous workplace shared by @Gritty20202. It appears to have been made by a supervisor, asking employees if they are able to donate some of their paid time off to a co-worker who is having surgery and does not have enough vacation time to cover their pay.

Twitter was less than impressed with this way of working, and people spared no time in criticizing this dysfunctional system, as well as sharing their own horror stories. If most illnesses are unavoidable, then perhaps being compensated for it should be, too.
