There’s a reason that retail workers across the land dread this most special time of year: everyone and their dog is out there buying presents. It’s no secret that Christmas is the ultimate consumerism fest. Right about now, most of us have a list of loved ones, friends, and even co-workers that we have to tick off our money spending list in the name of politeness (and, you know, because we care about them, and want to see them happy). 

No doubt about it, gift giving can be a stressful process. Nonetheless, it’s worth it to see the happiness on a recipient’s face when you get the whole thing right. On top of that, it can’t be denied that most of us enjoy receiving presents. Whether we’re treated to an extravagant gift, or we’re just happy that we have a few more pairs of socks to add to the collection, holiday-related generosity is a nice thing. Even the memes can agree on that.
