Football. Soccer. The beautiful game. That sport where players drop to the floor and wiggle around at the merest touch from one of the opposing team. Whatever you want to call it, it can’t be denied that it was played at a truly breathtaking level yesterday at the World Cup final. 

While the tournament at Qatar was dampened by controversy long before it even started, most unanimously agree that the France vs. Argentina match is one that will go down in history. It doesn’t take a soccer expert to see that a guy scoring a hattrick and still losing makes for compelling watching, as does one of the greatest players finally winning the most iconic prize in the sport. 

From Mbappé, to Messi, to every other player involved, there were plenty of chances for some amusing memes and commentary on what ended up being a historic win for Argentina. See you in another four years, folks.
