There are a lot of stereotypes out there about older men. I remember a wise editor from FailBlog saying that when you reach middle age, you can be one of two types of men: a model train guy, or a WWII guy. And I, despite being a woman who is under 40, definitely fall into the latter category. While I enjoy all forms of war-related media (except for, you know, the news), there’s something about WWII movies that just hits different. Even better than WWII movies? WWII miniseries. My personal favorite is Band of Brothers. The series, which stars classic «that guys» such as Ron Livingston and Neal McDonough, is based on Stephen Ambrose’s book of the same name. The true story follows «Easy Company,» paratroopers in the 101st Airborne division during WWII. It’s a bleak tearjerker of a tale, with very sweet and sad human moments, but it makes for some really good television.  

While it’s no surprise that a series created by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks would attract a huge fanbase, but it is somewhat more surprising that the fanbase would also create a thriving meme community dedicated to its ten episodes. But you know what? We’re not complaining. As you can probably tell from our weekly Tolkien Tuesday galleries, we love themed memes that are imbued with a healthy dose of stupidity.
