Odds are, you have a prized possession. It doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else, but you have it. Maybe it’s a pen that you got on your 8th-grade trip to Washington, DC, that reminds you of your first best friend. Maybe it’s a necklace that your grandmother gave you right before she passed. Or maybe it’s something that you saved up a lot of your own money to pay for, and you would guard it with your life. Bonus points if it’s irreplaceable, like an heirloom or a vintage item.
You make sure that you know where it is at all times, and you wouldn’t lend it out to just anyone. But what if somebody forced you to? Or rather, took it from you under the cover of darkness and threatened not to give it back to you. You would probably be pretty upset with that person, whether you were related to them or not. If it were your own parent, who is supposed to be looking out for you, you might have a really hard time getting over it.
