There are few greater gambles than falling in love. When it goes wrong the consequences can be disastrous. A broken heart is the kind of feeling that only time can heal, but unfortunately that doesn’t make the immediate fallout any less embarrassing and dramatic. For the majority of us, this probably begins and ends with a classic drunk calling habit, or mournfully spying on your ex’s social media after you’ve blocked them. Unfortunately, though, some people take things much, much further.

One person who had the misfortune of experiencing this first hand was @notfaithirving, who received a frightening payback for breaking up with her boyfriend. After the end of the relationship, he completely trashed the apartment they had shared and stole much of what she owned — including her birth certificate. After posting evidence of the carnage to TikTok, the video gained massive attention on the platform and even made a splash on Twitter as people were horrified by the actions her ex had taken. While some wondered what she may have done to elicit such a terrifying reaction, most viewers were glad that she was safe despite the damage done to her property.

In a follow up video she showed how she had cleaned up the apartment by herself, and she later confirmed to Twitter user @bonecarrier that she was unable to even sue the man, as he had fled to a different state. Although justice may not have been served in this instance, it’s still a harrowing story that puts most of our worst ever break ups into perspective.
