Therapy is most definitely not going to be everybody’s cup of tea. Some people jump into it and immediately see the benefits. Other people return week after week and just recognize that they know more sh*tty things about their childhood, but they don’t really know what to do with that information. Sure, it may depend on what your initial motivation was for beginning the sessions, but still, experiences vary exponentially. Going to therapy, many times can just feel like opening pandora’s box. Great, now all of your issues are out in the open, enjoy!
In all seriousness, a good therapist should be able to help you work through all of those issues, or at least accept or validate them. But we all still go through emotional rollercoasters, regardless of how consistent we show.
