I love old-timey slang. It elevates the moment when you say «Those cats are really cooking» instead of «That band is really good.» Or if you call someone’s outfit «the cat’s pajamas» instead of saying they look «cool.» Or if you say «I was like a cat on a hot tin roof» instead of «I was really freaking out.» Why are there so many old-time idioms that involve cats?
Nevertheless, I think most of us can agree that vintage slang is more fun than current slang, probably because we’re not as used to it. I’ve heard people say «slay» more times than I can count, but I’ve only heard someone use the term «boffo» maybe once or twice. All to say, language is supposed to be fun. We’re supposed to enjoy speaking and find ways to zest it up. And these memes are part of that journey, so look, listen, and learn you crazy cat.
