Parents these days have been coddling kids a lot. Many of us grew up with knee scrapes, boiling hot metal playgrounds, and a crooked tire on our bikes, which makes it seem like these modern kiddos are losing their fearlessness. Alas, there is a way to combat the tablet-kid mentality and one mom on TikTok may have just cracked the code on the fast track to her son’s maturity–In a great way! 

Although I’m 30 years old, I still sometimes wish to have my mom book my doctor’s appointments. 

I hate being on the phone with medical pros and even though I’m an adult, it makes my anxiety levels go . But imagine if you were raised with the self-confidence to plow through those phone calls, boldly making your appointments by yourself and earning a badge of achievement with each successful call. That’s exactly what this supermom did for her son in a video that’s going viral online. Believe it or not, this simple act of letting your kid take the reins of their own life gives them an invaluable sense of self and motivates them to be more independent! So even in an era of smartphones, consoles, Alexa’s, and other automated tech, perhaps your kid can grow up to be an entirely self-sufficient adult one day…
