Listen, we all have our issues around the world. Right now, it feels like the U.S. has more issues than most, but I digress. As an American, it is our right to be able to complain and make fun of ourselves. So, we self-deprecate left and right. I would be so bold as to say it’s what makes up 99% of American humor–at least online it does. But the second someone starts talking about us behind our back, we draw the line… Sorta. We’re not disagreeing with what you’re saying about us, but like, we gotta be in on the joke too. Or else, we’re going to roast back. For real, if there is one thing Americans are known for, it’s for being outspoken and confrontational.
So when the U.S. was invited back to TikTok in less than 24 hours after then ban, ooooooh baby, did we catch some folks talking behind our backs. Again, nothing we disagree with, but first of all, HOW DARE YOU. The British, fine, we expect to have a forever-feud with them after the Revolutionary war, it’s just ingrained in our DNA. The Australians, okay, kinda hurts cause y’all are fun, but our timezones are so different we hardly ever cross paths online. But the Canadians… Wow. Our own continent sibling??…
