If you haven’t been living under a rock, you’ve likely been watching Apple TV+’s Severance season two. The show’s main plot point is a metaphor for work/life balance, especially in corporate America, and the «severed» employees are basically working machines who allegedly serve no other purpose. Would you sever yourself in order to never remember the work day you’ve just had? If so, why?

Severance has got me thinking about why we all feel so burnt out all the time. Are we as humans supposed to be locked away in cubicles for 8/9 hours a day, staring at a screen and being told the work we’re doing is important (when most of the time, it’s not)?
