One of the greatest unintentional social experiments of our time is raising almost an entire generation through the medium of screens and the internet. Sure, this has already happened to some extent to younger millennials and Gen Z, but it is Gen Alpha who is going to be the true test of what it means to be a so-called ‘digital native’. We have kids that are younger than TikTok who have practically been hooked up to an iPad since birth now making their mark in the posts and comment sections of many social media platforms, and the results are predictably deranged. The rest of us may have had our brains irreparably rotted over time, but they have been doing this on levels we can’t comprehend. From the truly disturbing to the actually kind of funny, the chronically online children of today are schooling us in the effects that the internet is having on society.
