The scariest thing about babies is that they can’t talk. Some might say the most frightening thing about them is the sensitivity of their soft spots or SIDS, but I would take a soft-headed baby who could speak like Stewie Griffin over a football-helmet-headed baby who only cries any day. I’m not saying that every word that comes out of a child’s (or hypothetical talking baby) mouth is 100% true, but at least they can specifically communicate why something is wrong. A baby could go to a daycare center and experience something awful. You, as a parent, wouldn’t know unless a teacher told you explicitly or there was some kind of physical evidence on the baby’s body. If a baby could talk, they would tell you about something terrible that’s happened before it gets so bad you can tell just by looking at them. At least, that would be an option.
