Every sci-fi hero needs a good sci-fi sidekick. The sidekick is an underrated part of the hero’s journey. They’re there to help the hero out along the way, providing guidance, support, and usually a little bit of humor. They’re not going to be the ones to get all the fame and glory, but they’re going to help the hero get it. Even better if that sidekick is a robot because that’s just pure fun. 

I think if I had to be any archetype in a sci-fi movie, I’d be a sidekick. They usually have a little less going on, which would be nice. They’re usually a little less stressed than the hero since it’s not on their shoulders. Plus, I imagine that they have rich lives offscreen, and I don’t need everything about my life to be publicized. But in the end, they still get rewarded for their valiant efforts, so it’s not like they’re completely overlooked.
