It’s hard to say if there really is such a thing as a ‘good’ hospital experience. A place you only ever go to when you’re sick or injured is never going to be a shining example of fulfillment and joy, no matter how many cheerful clipart health & safety notices they decorate the ward with. Add into the mix overworked healthcare employees and a prohibitively expensive/chronically underfunded service and it’s a recipe for some nightmare-inducing stories.
Like many negative experiences, though, it is possible for something humorous to bloom out of the ashes. In the case of a 21st century hospital visit, that comes in the form of Google reviews. Patients the world over have plenty to say about their healthcare experience, and many manage to tell unwittingly compelling stories in the process. Being sick blows, but getting to give the experience a summary and a star rating has the potential to make it all better.
