It is not like we needed another app to waste away our days with that continually sold us stuff and quite possibly spied on us, but TikTok boldly rushed in at the end of the last decade to fill that very narrow gap anyway. The rest, as they like to say, is history: no longer could we experience a popular culture that wasn’t tinged by the experience of the For You page. That certainly seems to be the case now, where almost everybody who is online enough seems to think solely in short-form video. 

One benefit of the reach of the clock app, though, is that we don’t necessarily have to use it to understand what is happening there. The snapshots below are enough for a niche but well-rounded overview of events that is both amusing and informative as to how many people are choosing to post on social media today.
